Come study the Bible

A message from the leadership of the Eastside church of Christ:

As of August 8, 2021, Don Mitchell and Steve Newton have been appointed as elders of the Eastside congregation.

All of our men take seriously the responsibility of leading by example, watching for the souls of our local membership, providing for the spiritual feeding of the flock, and keeping the local church pure in doctrine, teaching and practice. We speak where the Bible speaks and are silent where the Bible is silent.

We are an independent congregation of believers and have no earthly headquarters of any kind. Christ is the head of the church, and He rules and directs the church through His word. (2 Tim 3:16-17). As a group of Christians, we simply strive to follow the commands and examples described in the New Testament. We do not follow any creeds, manuals or doctrines created by man.

We do not belong to any denomination, organization, religious group, or convention. We are a non-denominational, non-institutional congregation of believers in Christ. Our emphasis is spiritual, not material or social. We strive to be the same church described in the New Testament, and we wish to be identified with Christians of the first century. Our intent is to understand the New Testament pattern and abide by it.

We have regular times of worship and Bible classes for all ages. We observe the Lord's supper, or communion, on the first day of the week (Acts 20:7), we contribute to the work of the church (1 Corinthians 16:2) and we participate in congregational singing without instrumentation. We desire worship that is devout and scriptural. Jesus taught that acceptable worship was to be done in spirit and in truth (John 4:24). We are determined to emphasize a reverent and orderly worship that is designed to draw people closer to God and provide spiritual strength.

Following the example of Paul's exhortation to Titus in Titus 2:1, the brethren at the Eastside church of Christ "... speak the things which are fitting for sound doctrine" - we therefore, "..press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus", Phil 3:14.

Come and visit us soon. We invite you to make an honest investigation of Christ's church in this community.
